  • The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organization under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
  • It was established on July 16, 1929
  • Aim of coordinating and guiding agricultural education and research in India.

Key objectives of ICAR

  1. Advancement of Agricultural Research: ICAR works to promote, conduct, and coordinate agricultural research and its application in various fields of agriculture, including crops, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and natural resource management.
