NTPC shines as the only Indian PSU to feature in Forbes “World’s Best Employers 2023” List.

News in Brief

  • India’s largest integrated energy conglomerate, NTPC Limited, has been recognized as one of the “World’s Best Employers 2023” in the Forbes World’s Best Employers list 2023 released on 10th Oct 2023.
  • It ranked 261st out of top 700 companies in the World ranking and is the only Indian PSU to figure in the list.
  • This is a testimony that the people practices at NTPC are at par with the top companies in the world.
  • Samsung Electronics and Microsoft led the list at No. 1 and No. 2. Following Alphabet at No. 3, were Apple (No. 4) and Ferrari (No. 5).
World’s Best Employers 2023 List

  • Every year Forbes publishes the World’s Best Employers List through independent market research.
  • It aims to identify the top 700 companies which offer exciting working and a positive environment, opportunities for training and career advancement, employee benefits, and employee-centric and workplace diversity.
  • Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to create the seventh annual list of the World’s Best Employers this year.
  • How is the Survey done?
    • Respondents were asked
      • Whether they would recommend their company to family or friends
      • Rate their employer based on criteria such as working environment and hours, health benefits, opportunities for training and advancement, salary and workplace diversity.
    • Participants also could rate companies within their own industries and countries.
    • Responses were combined into a score, and the 700 companies with the highest scores made the final list.
National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC)

The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is one of India’s largest and most prominent state-owned power companies. Established in 1975, NTPC plays a critical role in the Indian power generation sector. Here are some key points about NTPC:

    • NTPC was founded in 1975 and is headquartered in New Delhi, India.

    • NTPC is primarily involved in the generation and distribution of electricity.

    • As on September 2021, NTPC had a total installed capacity of over 66,000 megawatts (MW).
