Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Global Cooperative Conference 2024 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

News in Brief

  • It was hosted by the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO).
  • ICA is organised first time in India.
  • The 18 ICA member organizations in India represent close to 800,000 cooperatives and 290 million cooperators.
  • Prime Minister will launch the UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025
Global Cooperative Conference 2024

  • The conference theme is: “Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All”.
  • There will be four plenary sessions, each accompanied by four parallel sessions, to create an Action Agenda for Cooperatives to accelerate the SDGs.
  • To accomplish this, the conference has 4 key themes:
    • Enabling Policy and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems
    • Reaffirming the Cooperative Identity
    • Nurturing Purposeful Leadership
    • Shaping a Just, Equal and Resilient Future.

  • Chance to connect and collaborate with a diverse group of professionals
  • Participate in engaging workshops and training sessions

UN International Year of Cooperatives 2025

  • Focus on the theme, “Cooperatives Build a Better World,”.
  • It underscores the transformative role cooperatives play in promoting social inclusion, economic empowerment, and sustainable development.
  • The UN SDGs recognize cooperatives as crucial drivers of sustainable development, particularly in reducing inequality, promoting decent work, and alleviating poverty.
  • The year 2025 will be a global initiative aimed at showcasing the power of cooperative enterprises in addressing the world’s most pressing challenges.
