News in Brief

  • The country’s first artificial intelligence-powered anganwadi has been set up in Waddhamna village, around 18 km from Nagpur city, bringing a wave of excitement and curiosity amongst children aged two to six.
  • Over the past few months, attendance has more than doubled from about 10 children earlier to over 25 regular students now.
  • The facility is equipped with virtual reality headsets, AI-enabled smartboards, tablets, and interactive content, making lessons far more engaging than before.
  • The project was launched at a cost of nearly Rs 9.5 lakh from the Zilla Parishad’s CESS fund.

  • Revolution has been taking place for the past three months at India’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered anganwadi in a village in Maharashtra’s Nagpur district.
  • This step to redefine early childhood education was taken by the Nagpur Zilla Parishad.
  • It is under its pioneering Mission Bal Bharati initiative.
    • It aims to provide children from rural areas with the same digital access as their urban counterparts.
  • Workers are now being introduced to generative AI tools, which can help create new content, like text, images, music, etc.
