Why in News ?
The Seventh edition of Indian Navy – US Navy (IN – USN) SALVEX was conducted from 26 Jun – 06 Jul 23 at Kochi. IN and USN have been participating in joint Salvage and EOD exercises since 2005.
About SALVEX
- The exercise saw participation from both the navies which included the ships – INS Nireekshak and USNS Salvor in addition to
Source : PIB Specialist Diving and EOD teams.
- The diving teams from the two nations exchanged maritime salvage skills over the course of ten days.
- Together, they underwent land-based and maritime training on a variety of EOD Operations topics.
- Joint training exercises were also conducted as part of SALVEX to improve cooperation, cohesion, and mutual learning in maritime salvage and EOD operations.
- It is the Seventh edition of SALVEX.

- Expenditure incurred also varies.
- Helps in constructive engagements in operational terms and enhances the skills of our armed forces.
- This is a continuous process relevant steps are taken from time to time to engage friendly countries and to enhance the scope of exercises based on the principle of mutual benefit and our own strategic requirements.
