Why in News ?
Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE), was announced.
About the Scheme
- It is a Central Sector Scheme.
- As central Sector Scheme they are 100 % central scheme.
- PM-DevINE scheme will be implemented by
- Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER)
- North Eastern Council or Central Ministries/agencies or State Government agencies.
Fund allocation details
- It has a Union Budget 2022-23 initial list of seven projects and an initial allocation of Rs. 1500 crore.
- The scheme has an outlay of Rs.6,600 crore for the 4 year period from 2022-23 to 2025-26 (remaining years of the 15th Finance Commission period).
- Eleven projects amounting to Rs 1503.44 crore including the seven projects announced in Budget 2022-23
- It have been selected for sanction in FY 2022-23 and an amount of Rs 121.10 crore has been disbursed.
- State-wise, project wise list of projects approved during FY 2022-23.
What are the Objectives?
- Fund infrastructure convergently, in the spirit of PM GatiShakti
- Support social development projects based on felt needs of the NER
- Enable livelihood activities for youth and women
- Fill the development gaps in various sectors

- It is representing both geographic and political administrative division of the country.
- It comprises eight states
- Arunachal Pradesh
- Assam
- Manipur
- Meghalaya
- Mizoram
- Nagaland
- Tripura
- Sikkim
- First 7 are called seven sisters.
- The Siliguri Corridor connects the region to the rest of mainland India.
- The part is covered by Brahmaputra-Barak river systems and their tributaries.
- Northeast India has a subtropical climate.
