India – Bangladesh Relation UPSC : Summary
Diplomatic relations between the two countries formally began in 1971.
6 December Bangladesh and India celebrate Friendship Day in order to commemorating India’s recognition of Bangladesh and the continued friendship between the two countries.

- Bangladesh is the 6th largest trade partner of India.
- Bilateral trade between two countries has jumped to USD 18.2 billion in 2021-22.

- India and Bangladesh share 54 common rivers.
- India and Bangladesh share 4096.7 Km. of border, which touches Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya and West Bengal.
