Why in News ?

Ministry of Ayush is organizing a “Chintan Shivir” for Ayush at Kaziranga National Park, Assam from 27th – 28th February, 2023.

Key Facts

  • The two-day intense dialogue is designed to discuss the futuristic improvements in the implementation of existing policies and programs relating to Ayush sectors & traditional medicine.
  • It aims to chalk out a way forward both for the Ministry and the Ayush sector as a whole.
  • Also aims at identifying ways to incentivise Ayush startups and manufacturers to build a startup ecosystem in Ayush.
  • It also focuses on working towards building a more robust research and development infrastructure for Ayush.
Kaziranga National Park

  • It is located in Northeast Indian state of Assam The park is approximately 40 km (25 mi) in length from east to west, and 13 km (8 mi) in breadth from north to south.20 Year of Kaziranga Wildlife Rehab Centre
  • It is a world heritage site, notified by the UNESCO in 1985.
  • World’s largest population of the greater one-horned rhinoceros is seen in this park.
  • The park is a shelter to endangered Royal Bengal tiger and the Asian elephant.
  • Brahmaputra river flowing through this region.
  • Another important fact is that Kaziranga contains significant breeding populations of 35 mammalian species of which 15 are threatened as per the IUCN Red List.
