Nine ministries gather to support MoRD’s National Campaign against Gender-based Violence Nai Chetna 2.0.
News in Brief
- The meeting held yesterday, was chaired by the Additional Secretary, MoRD.
- Introduced the campaign to the gathered delegates.
- It was organized to foster convergence to collectively strengthen redressal mechanisms for survivors of GBV.
- The campaign is to be launched on 25 November which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
About Nai Chetna 2.0
- Nai Chetana is a gender campaign.
- It is launched under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission in all states.
- The campaign is to be launched on 25 November which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
- It will be observed across 34 Indian states and UTs till 23 December.
- The annual campaign will be led by DAY-NRLM’s self-help groups network of over 9.8 crore rural women members with the spirit of a Jan Andolan or people’s movement.
- The programme has been making concerted efforts towards creating institutional mechanisms and mobilizing communities for responding to issues of violence faced by women and girls.
- The campaign worked towards bringing together all line departments of state governments and respective stakeholders to create a concerted effort in acknowledging, identifying and addressing issues of violence.

About Maulana Azad
Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, whose full name was Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiyuddin Ahmed bin Khairuddin Al-Hussaini Azad, was a prominent leader, freedom fighter, and scholar in the Indian independence movement. Here’s an overview of his life:
Early Life
- Birth: Born on November 11, 1888, in Mecca, present-day Saudi Arabia.
- Education: Azad was largely self-taught, mastering several languages, including Arabic, English, Urdu, Hindi, Persian, and Bengali.
Role in the Independence Movement
- Khilafat Movement: Azad became a prominent leader during the Khilafat Movement (1919-1924), advocating for the preservation of the Ottoman Caliphate.
- Non-Cooperation Movement: He played a key role in the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920-1922) led by Mahatma Gandhi.
- Imprisonment: Azad was arrested several times for his involvement in nationalist activities.
