Significance
- This event takes place two months before the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27), which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, in November.
- It provides a great chance for global leaders to build on promises made at the 2021 Glasgow Climate Summit.
- The forum also comes at a time when the European continent is attempting to negotiate:
- New energy sources in the face of altering geopolitics in the area
- Establish win-win solutions that provide both energy security and decarbonization
- It also comes only one month after the United States passed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the largest-ever investment in climate action in the United States.
- Global leaders can utilise forums like the GCEAF to both deploy those tools efficiently and accelerate progress throughout the world at a time of increased energy demand.
