The UDISE+ Report
- The Department of School Education & Literacy created the UDISE+ method of online data gathering from schools in the 2018–19 school year to address problems with the previously used manual data filling in paper format practise.
- To support the NEP 2020 efforts, more information on significant indicators, such as the digital library, peer learning, hard spot detection, quantity of books accessible in school libraries, etc., has been gathered for the first time in UDISE+ 2021–22.
- Compared to 2020–21, there are more pupils enrolled in school overall in 2021–22, from elementary to higher secondary.
- The overall enrollment of students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other Backward Groups rose in 2021–2022 compared to 2020–2021.
- The elementary, upper primary, and higher secondary levels of schooling’s Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER), which assesses participation overall, improved in 2021–2022 compared to 2020–21.
- It is noteworthy that the GER in higher secondary has improved significantly, rising from 53.8% in 2021–2021 to 57.6% in 2021–2022.
- The total number of students with special needs (CWSN) enrolled in 2021–2022 is up 3.45% from 2020–2021.
- In the educational system, there will be 95.07 lakh teachers working in 2021–2022, of whom more than 51% will be women.
- The Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) also improved from 2018–19 to 2021–22, standing at 26 for primary, 19 for upper primary, 18 for secondary, and 27 for higher secondary.
- According to the Gender Parity Index (GPI) of GER, girls are equally represented in education and the population of the relevant age group.
- At every level of schooling, the GPI value is one or higher, suggesting that females are more likely to enrol in school.
- The overall number of students from Primary through Higher Secondary who belong to a Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), or Other Backward Caste (OBC) has increased from 2020–21 to 2021–22.
- In 2021–22, there were 14.89 lakh schools overall, down from 15.09 lakh in 2020–21.
- Closing of private and other management schools as well as grouping/clumping of schools by different States are the primary causes of the fall in the number of total schools.
