Why in the News?
The government is finalising a national vision plan to make India a developed nation by 2047 and ensure that the country does not slip into a middle-income trap that several countries have fallen into at similar stages of development.
News in Brief
- Expect to unveil the plan within the next three months.
- NITI Aayog is giving the finishing touches to the plan called ‘Vision India@ 2047’ that has been in the works for almost two years and was presented to the Cabinet Secretary.
- The vision aims to create an action plan and under the plan, a road map will be created for each sector.
About Vision India@ 2047
- The idea will help commemorate India’s 100 years of freedom.
- There will be goals for it that must be accomplished in 25 years.
- First, it will open up Indian purchases of foreign defence equipment.
- It will increase India’s independence. Restructuring the public sector banks is the goal.
- The goal of the initiative is to combine three or four large banks.
- Its goal is to create complexes of semiconductors.
- The procedures used by the government must be revised.
- It will end the needless meddling that the government does in the lives of its people.
- Ten labs are to be constructed in the field of research and technology.
- India is going to become a capital of skills.
